| Beijing has allocated US$1.65 billion for the construction of sports
stadiums and other facilities specifically for the Beijing Olympic Games
2008. To meet the schedules demanded by the International Olympic
committee, construction plans will need to be finalised in 2003. |
| China recognises the high profile international exposure brought by
the Olympic Games and will need the assistance of specialist western
companies in design, architecture and engineering to meet the scheduled
programme. The China market for the sports industry is already growing
rapidly and is estimated to be around US$1.2 billion a year. The supply of
high quality sports equipment and facilities will still heavily rely on
imports. |
| This Fair will be China's only sports exhibition in China targeting
both the constructions of sports venues and relevant sports facilities.
The organisers are keen to see British expertise on architects, engineering companies, contractors, suppliers of
sports equipment, fixtures and construction materials, and service
providers for the design, construction and maintenance of sports
venues. |
| Opportunities for British exhibitors
to: |

buyers
- Strike co-operative or joint venture business deals
- Build connections and establish business relationships with
potential buyers/joint venture partners/officials in the construction
and sports industries
- Gain detailed knowledge of the market situation in China and the
specific needs of the Beijing Olympics
- Meet Chinese construction service suppliers, such as architects,
consultants and engineers
|
| On 28th August 2002, 30 representatives from British companies, with
many leading design and construction companies among them, attended a
seminar in Liverpool to discuss the Beijing Olympics and the formation of
a British group to attend this trade fair in a possible concerted effort
to target opportunities in China. As a result, we are making arrangements
to add a British only presentation and reception event with the British
Beijing Embassy. Specific contacts and individual business meetings
(optional) with local Beijing companies will also be arranged in
Beijing. |
| Grant support from Trade Partners
UK to qualified companies is available through Chinalink. Each qualified exhibitor could receive
a contribution of up to 60% of the
total exhibition cost (maximum £2300). |
| Registration fees will be £450+VAT which will cover the following services,
including: |
- Administration of all grant applications for participation and
processing grant claims after the exhibition
- Negotiating with a travel agent to arrange a group travel package
- Organising a market seminar on 24th August (see separate flyer)
- Liasing with the exhibition organisers in space booking and the
hiring interpreters
- Providing a pre-exhibition briefing in Liverpool and a briefing in
Beijing, in conjunction with the British Embassy
- Providing a bilingual market consultant and/or group manager to
manage the exhibition
|
| We are aware that some companies would consider an option of sharing a
stand rather than book an individual stand directly with the organiser,
thereby reducing costs and logistical arrangements. If you prefer this
alternative option please indicate in your reply. |
| For further information, please complete the on-line enquiry form in our
website: www.ChinaLink.org.uk. Deadline for booking is 9th December 2002. |
