| |
| On board the HMS Liverpool, which berthed by the Bund,
the waterfront of Shanghai, more than 80 CEOs, MDs and senior executives
from large corporations in Shanghai and provinces of Zhejiang and
Jiangsu attended a cocktail reception on the front deck. The Yanghze
river and the high skyscrapers on the Pudong side of the river provided
a spectacular backdrop for the event. |
| Dr. Kegang Wu made a short presentation to highlight
Liverpool as an ideal destination for Chinese companies who are interested
in developing their overseas operation. He also briefed the business
VIPs about the recent projects the City is involved in promoting business
co-operation between Shanghai and Liverpool, including the UNIDO Technological
Assistance Project, The Mersey Partnership China Campaign and the
proposed Liverpool's Shanghai Centre. Paul Sizeland and Martin Ewence
made short speech to encourage active participation of the companies
in those new initiatives. Interest from the companies on using Liverpool
as a destination for their UK market development was overwhelmed.
|
| Martin Ewence, the Captain of HMS Liverpool thanked
the City of Liverpool for a gift presented to him by Dr. Kegang Wu
who described the unique nature of HMS Liverpool's visit to Shanghai
as an one in a decade event. |
