|
|
Last year figures: 1,406 exhibitors from 18 countries, 260,000
professional visitors from 46 countries |
| |
| |
| Electronic
information & network: The IT industry is set to
boom again in China as the "E-government Project" and "E-commerce
Project" have been launched and government of all levels and key SOEs
(State Owned Enterprises) are requested to upgrade systems. It is
expected that by 2005 the whole IT industry in China reach£ 228 billion
(5% of GDP). Last year 112,000 professionals visited the IT zone of
the fair with the contract value signed during the fair reaching £
0.23 billion (3 billion RMB). |
| |
| Industrial Automation
(cutting & molding, industrial automation, printing and packing, machine
tool): China is now the 2nd largest country in the world importing machine
tool and the 3rd largest consuming market for it. |
| |
| Automobile and Components:
China's automobile import has been mounting, especially after its entry
to WTO when tariff and import quotas have been gradually reduced. According
to official statistics in the next 10 years, demand of cars will be around
3 million and China will become the biggest automobile market in the next
20 to 25 years. |
| |
| Bioengineering and pharmaceuticals:
this sector is one of the fastest growing industries in China with
over £0.38 billion will be invested in modern biological technology
research in the next 5 years (5 times the total invested in the last
15 years). It is very likely that Shanghai will become the first-choice
location for the national medical industry and incubator for new developments.
