Yes, it is short notice, but how often will you see this many high quality guests & speakers turning up at 8:30 a.m. at the same time?
Our speaker for Case Studies slot will be Mr Charles Haswell who has been the Commercial Counsellor in the last three years, leading a UK Trade & Investment team in offices of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing and Hong Kong, assisting hundreds of UK companies in entering the China market and overseeing a concerted programme of promoting UK business interest in China. The Club is delighted that Mr. Haswell has chosen to speak at the Breakfast Seminar to our members and companies in the Northwest to mark the occasion of his mission accomplished --- Charles is returning to the UK next month - and to share with us his views on where the opportunity is in China. His first hand experience and inside knowledge will be valuable to anyone who is doing or is thinking of doing business with China. He will be available to answer questions at the Breakfast seminar.
Ms Vicki Treadell has been the Director-North West of UK Trade and Investment since August 2002. Vicki is a career diplomat who has held political, commercial, immigration, consular and management briefs with overseas assignments and has a strong commercial track record stemming from her assignments in the Joint Export Promotion Directorate (JEPD) of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) and Department of Trade & Industry (DTI). Vicki will be taking the spot for our Topical Discussion on Northwest China Trade Strategy. Leading a network of International Trade Advisors across the North West, Vicki is currently developing a NW China trade strategy in response to the central government's recently set-up China Task Force. She is keen to learn from you where governmental resource and service should be provided to support NW businesses in China market. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about what her team in the region has to offer and for the Club members to have an input in shaping the NW China trade policy and services.
At the Breakfast Seminar, ChinaLink will also be delighted to welcome Mr. Neil Blakeman, Commercial Counsellor Designate, who will succeed Charles Haswell in Beijing and Ms. Carol Hinchley, Head of the Embassy's Commercial Section Designate, who will take the reign from Stephen Buckley of whom many members met . They are preparing for their new China posts and will have fresh mind for your enquiries and requirements to be taken seriously. You can field your questions at the Open Forum time to all the VIPs.
A full English breakfast will be served. Free parking available. Breakfast Seminar will be free to Club members and International Trade Advisers in the Northwest region. Non-members will be charged at £50 +VAT. To register, please complete and return the attached registration form, together with payment. Confirmation and a location map will be sent.
Closing date for registration is 10th May 2004. Places are limited and priority will be given to Club Members (bookings are guaranteed and accepted only on receipt of payment).
