In the Chinese New Year dinner last year, China Business Club (UK) worked with the Chinese Consulate General, Manchester City Council and The 48 Group Club to organise one of the most successful gatherings of the Club's history at the prestigious venue of the Chinese Consul General's official residence in Manchester, with more than one hundred VIP guests enjoying the informative briefings, productive networking and wonderful Chinese food. Welcoming the Chinese New Year of the Rooster provided a good opportunity to reflect and celebrate. Believing in the Chinese Zodiac or not (and you will find out more at the dinner), the Year of Rooster is a year to look forward to. The Club Annual Dinner this year, forming a part of UK Trade & Investment promotion of its new China Strategy, have had UK Trade & Investment together with ChinaLink as its Main Sponsor. North West is the first UK region to produce a response to the China Strategy of the national task force, headed by John Prescott. Details of the region's action plan of the North West China Strategy was unveiled at the dinner by Vicki Treadell, the UKTI Director for the North West. This year is the first year of the post-quota era and will be the final year for many transitional measures of China's WTO membership. What can we anticipate in the new changes in the China market? The speech of Chinese Consul General, Mr. Jianzhong Gong, who recently took up his appointment, addressed these issues. The pre-dinner drink reception allowed China enthusiasts a great opportunity to network. A sit-down dinner at Liverpool's most celebrated venue was served with gentle and beautiful traditional Chinese music playing in the background.
