Celebrating International Culture

at the North West Chinese New Year Business Dinner & Awards 2005

8 Feb. 2005 Liverpool Town Hall, Dale Street

Organised by China Business Club (UK)

Main Sponsors

Welcoming the Chinese New Year of the Rooster provided a good opportunity to reflect and celebrate. Whether you believe in the Chinese Zodiac or not (and guests found out more at the dinner), the Year of Rooster is a year to look forward to.

The pre-dinner drink reception allowed China enthusiasts a great opportunity to network. A sit-down dinner at Liverpool's most celebrated venue was served with gentle and beautiful traditional Chinese music in the background.

It is good omen that the Chinese New Year eve is on 08 Feb -- the lucky number in Chinese tradition that is also significant to the host city of the annual dinner. Understanding international culture is always a key for international trade, investment and civic relationships. It was therefore fitting that we had an after dinner speech on Chinese culture: "Nihao, Mr. Larry". Business writer and commentator Larry Neild, offered a wry and amusing slant on how to survive on the other side of the bamboo curtain. His secret weapon ... a sense of humour and a mutual respect for different cultures. He knows the score, having lived and worked in China before many multi-national corporations made their mark in the country.

Charity Draw - Support for a Local Culture Charity and Winning a Free Return Flight to China

In supporting local cultural activities and education of Chinese languages in the Chinese community, there was a charity draw at the end of the dinner with proceeds donated to Wah Sing Chinese Community School (Charity No.513857).The top prize for the draw was a free return flight ticket (Business Class) to Shanghai provided by China Eastern Airlines.
