With Chinese governmental policy now actively encouraging importing
into China, as announced on 15 May this year by the Economic & Commercial
Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, Jiang Fan, in London, two of the
biggest official Chinese trade fairs, Canton Fair (October
2007) and Shanghai Fair (September 2007), are now offering
exhibition opportunities for British companies to showcase their
products to Chinese traders and buyers for the first time in their
trade fair history.
They have both appointed ChinaLink,
based at the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, as their UK national
partner to organise British exporters to take advantage of the booming
Chinese economy and significant purchasing power.
The 16th Shanghai Fair (Shanghai International Import Commodities
Fair) is designed to show case foreign products to meet the
ever increasing demands of the Chinese market. Previous Shanghai
Fairs have been visited by up to 100,000 visitors. The fair is closely
followed by the China Shanghai International Sourcing Fair at which
the Shanghai World Expo (2010) authority will announce their procurement
project list and details.
The new import section of the 102nd Canton Fair (Phase one only:
15th - 20th October 2007), also known as the China Import and
Export Commodities Fair, brings together 12,000 Chinese traders
and 200,000 overseas trade visitors under the same roof. British
products exhibiting at the Canton Fair are likely to benefit not
only from Chinese traders but also from the rest of the 180 countries
and regions who will visit the Canton Fair.
Both are multiple sector trade fairs covering a comprehensive portfolio
of industrial sectors. Enquiries should be made to Dr. Kegang Wu,
Director & Managing Consultant of ChinaLink. Details are also available
