The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) is The Ultimate
Business Network with a Local, National and International presence.
This year the BCC is extending its global reach
by launching new initiatives to strengthen its links with the
Chinese market in its effort to provide more support for Chambers
and their members in the market. This national BCC Trade Delegation
forms part of the initiative.
We have designed an intensive and comprehensive
programme supported by the Chinese National Chamber, China Council
for the Promotion of International Trade, to enable the delegates
to meet with high level contacts, bring maximum exposure to various
regions of the market, direct engagement with businesses, and
the opportunity to be briefed with the most authoritative market
information.
The programme offers unique opportunities
to meet and engage with Chinese trade authorities as well as networking
opportunities to meet with Chinese enterprises at seminar, exhibition
and reception events. Here you will:
-
Meet the highest level of Chinese National
Chambers to gain an understanding of their National network
-
Agree on a framework and priority projects
for Chamber corporation
-
Discuss key UK-China trade issues that are
a concern to members
-
Engage with Chinese trade authorities
-
Visit 4 different locations in China to understand
the contrast & variation of the regional economy
-
Network with Chinese enterprises
-
Network with British companies operating in
China
It is a great opportunity for business leaders from
Chambers, companies and other trade bodies in the UK. The mission
will be led by the President of the British Chambers of Commerce,
Mr. Peter Mileham and John Dunsmure, Managing Director. The programme
has been prepared in consultation with Dr. Kegang Wu, Chief China
Adviser of the BCC and Director of ChinaLink.
Beijing
At
the capital, you will meet with the President of the CCPIT (our
host) and have a roundtable discussion on a number of specific
trade issues between the UK & China. Meetings are also arranged
with key Chinese industrial associations, the Minister of Commerce,
and a networking event with local Chinese enterprises. You will
also visit the Olympic Stadium, the Bird Nest.
Shanghai
Visits to the local Chamber in Shanghai, the city's
trade authority and to the World Expo site will demonstrate the
Chamber operations at city level; help to understand how Shanghai
is the economic engine of China and potentially the Far East,
as well what the World Expo may bring in 2010.
There will also be a possible reception with the
British Consulate General in Shanghai and a visit to a local British
company.
Guangzhou
The
city that is to host the Asia Games in 2010 will offer the delegation
a glimpse of market opportunity in the major manufacturing hub
of Southern China. We will meet with Guangzhou's trade authority
and a factory (either a local manufacturer or a joint-venture).
There is also the possibility of a networking event with British
companies already established in Guangzhou with the British Chamber
of Commerce in Guangzhou.
Xian
The delegation has been invited as special guests
to the "Western China International Economic Cooperation Fair",
the largest trade fair in Western China, with thousands of Chinese
companies at the 3-day event. You will also meet Shanxi and Xian
municipal and trade authorities; attend a range of seminars, exhibitions,
and match-making meetings designed to showcase Western China and
its opportunities.
