Invitation for Speakers to Trade Seminars British Business Service in the Post-WTO China market (Sponsored by in conjunction with Trade Partners UK, British Trade International) 4th December 2002, Shanghai
Business service is one of the key areas predicted for Britain to have export increase to China after China's WTO accession, where much of the existing restriction and barriers will be removed to pave the way for foreign companies to operate. Rapid industrialisation of the Chinese economy has created a huge demand on the business service industries.
The Government recognises that service industries are an important driving force for China's economy. Before WTO entry, despite China's huge population, it only rated 11th place as an importer of professional services with only 2.2% of the world's total. The Shanghai Municipal government forecasts that the service sector will create the highest demand for western expertise under the relaxed rules by the WTO.
Britain's well-developed business services places British companies in a good position to take advantage of the enormous market opportunities in this industry sector. There is a strong demand for UK consultancy in China, e.g. project management, assisting governments implement deregulation/privatisation programmes, marketing communications services (including advertising, public relations, direct marketing, market research, exhibitions, sales promotion and sponsorship).
ChinaLink has operated a number sponsored trade seminars in China over the last few years and has well established itself as one of the key national operators for facilitating UK businesses in the China market. We are looking to recruit companies who are interested in promoting their business services in the China market. Companies from the following business service areas are particularly welcome: training accountancy, advertising, direct marketing, distribution - wholesale/retail, e-retail, equipment hire, franchising, hire shops, information services, legal services, management consultancy, market research, property/facilities management, public relations, real estate services, recruitment services, repair services, and retailing.
Shanghai & Chongqing, two of the most important cities have been selected as the venues for the seminars.
Shanghai, a city of over 13 million people, is already service dominated with "services" representing 52% of the municipalities GDP last year. The target of 70% plus "services" to match cities like London and New York and the tremendous opportunities created, is ready for very sophisticated and value-added B2B business services.
Chongqing, with its population of 4.4 million, has become a centre serving strategic western development, and is in demand of business support from large public funded infrastructure projects and industrial development.
Grant support from Trade Partners UK to qualified companies is available through Chinalink. Each qualified speaker could receive a contribution of up to 50% of the travel cost (maximum £2300).
Registration fees will be £450+VAT which will cover the following services, including:
