| The project has been awarded to TTL because of the cutting
edge of its telescope technologies and its close tie with the astronomical
research community in the UK. Part of the contract is a 20 year long
international co-operation plan involving astronomical scientists
from British universities and research institutes. TTL has also teamed
up with the Astronomical Research Institute of the Liverpool John
Moores University to announce a two scholarship aimed at providing
training for Chinese astronomical scientists for the advanced robotic
operation of their new generation telescope. |
| ChinaLink, Liverpool Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Dr. Wu believes that the TTL contract is a good model more technology
transfer projects. There is huge potential in the Chinese market
for British technologies.
ChinaLink has been organising the British hi-tech companies to
China Hi-Tech Fair in three consecutive years in conjunction with
Trade Partners UK to promote British technologies. Before December,
a high level delegation from the national China Hi-Tech Transfer
Centre visited Liverpool and signed a long-term agreement with ChinaLink
on providing facilitating and intermediary services for technology
transfer. Source: Liverpool Chamber of Commerce & Industry Tel:
