| ChinaLink missions to Guangzhou,
Shanghai & Hangzhou |
| In Chinese language, taking advantage of a favourable situation
is often described as 'Riding with the East Wind'. The recent British
Trade mission, organised by ChinaLink, based in Liverpool Chamber
of Commence & Industry, was certainly given a lift when they visited
Guangzhou, Shanghai and Hangzhou. |
| The 23 members from 18 companies were headed by Dr. Kegang Wu, manager
of ChinaLink and Mr. Mike Prince, Executive Regional Partner of DLA.
With the strong support of ChinaLink’s Chinese Chamber Partners and
its own China office, the delegation was warmly welcome by the three
cities. They visited among them over a hundred Chinese companies and
held similar number of trade talks to develop co-operation. A number
of contracts and agreements were signed during the mission and right
after the mission. Many companies are expecting orders to come in
the next couple of years. |
| It is not just the impressive economic progress of the Chinese
economic but the further market potential resulting from China imminent
entry to WTO that convinced the companies that it has never been better
time to visited the market. |
| The day after the delegation arrived from Guangzhou to Shanghai,
China & EU reached the historical bilateral trade agreement that will
be a corner stone for China - UK trade for years to come. It provides
a timely boost for the confidence of doing business in China. Two
of the mission members have decided to set-up their representative
offices in China. |
| A BBC TV and Radio crew followed the trade mission for the whole
duration and news about the visit was broadcasted on BBC One, News
24, World TV Service Radio 4, Radio 5-Live and Radio Merseyside. |
| Two of the mission members, Mr. Jim Tonner, Manager Director of
Coyles, and Mr. Denys Sowler, Sale Manager of Tithebarn Ltd were invited
by British Trade International to speak at its China Show Case Seminar
after they returned from China. |
| Many companies have already said they will join the next ChinaLink
mission in October to visit China again. |
| 'Surfing thousand miles of wave in the wind,', usually used to express
courageous endeavour of ambitious go-getters, is perhaps another Chinese
saying suitable for blessing this group of British SMEs in their effort
of breaking barriers and pursuing trade co-operation with China. |
