Shanghai SMERT Senior Government Officers visited Liverpool
A senior delegation from Shanghai visited Liverpool on 31st November 2000 on the invitation of ChinaLink.

The delegation of six, headed by Mr. Qingju Hu, Deputy Commissioner of theShanghai Municipal Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Commission was welcome by the Mayoress of Liverpool Cllr. Pamela Clein, Chairman of the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce & Industry Mr. Bill Tobby, Deputy Chairman Ian Meadows, Chief Executive Peter Ralphs, ChinaLink Director Dr. Kegang Wu and China Committee Chairman David Tinsley.

The delegation discussed with the City Council, Chamber and ChinaLink for the future cooperation in promoting the Shanghai - Liverpool link in many areas.

Since the two cities twinned in October 1999, trade contacts were frequent between two cities and the friendship between Liverpool and Shanghai has become more close.
