| Liverpool has been
twinned with Shanghai |
| On 18th October 1999, the history book of the relationship
between Liverpool and Shanghai opened up a new chapter - the two cities
are twinned in a signing ceremony in the City Hall of Shanghai. |

of Liverpool City Council Councillor Mike Storey of Liverpool City
Council signed the historical memorandum on behalf of the two cities.
Attending the ceremony are six council officers and 28 members of
the British Trade Mission organised by ChinaLink, Liverpool Chamber
of Commerce & Industry. |
| After introducing the Mayors of Liverpool and Shanghai
to speak, Dr. Kegang Wu, MC of the evening reception hpsted by the
Liverpool City Council, proposed a toast for the historical day. |
| On the same day, an “UK - China Trade Seminar “ and
one - to one business meetings were held with over one hundred companies
from China and UK attended in Hotel Equatorial. With the establishment
of ChinaLink’s China office in Shanghai, Liverpool Chamber of Commerce
& Industry will be a leading organisation in the future of UK - China
trade. |
