Liverpool City Council jointly announced the news of twinning with Shanghai at a ChinaLink event. |
| The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Cllr. Joe Devaney, chaired a meeting
on 20th September 1999 to announce the twinning between Liverpool
and Shanghai. The meeting was sponsored jointly by ChinaLink, Liverpool
Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Liverpool City Council. A delegation
of Shanghai Foreign Investment Service Centre attended the seminar
together with over a hundred people from local business community,
local Chinese Community and other sectors of the city. |
| Mr. Fan Yaoguang, leader of the Shanghai delegation introduced the
economic development of Shanghai. Other speakers included Cllr. Frank
Doran, Chamber’s Chief Executive Peter Ralphs and ChinaLink’s Director
Kegang Wu. |
