China International Commodities Fair
for Small and Medium Size Enterprises

China International Commodities Fair is a large scale international economic
and trade activity. It is annually held on 20 - 24 September in Changzhou,
China.
Changzhou, an important city in East China's Jiangsu Province, is a booming
industrial city and one of the most economically developed areas in China
Four sessions of the fair have been held successfully in Changzhou since
1996, each attracting more than 20,000 visitors from over 30 countries
and regions.
The fair has an indoor exhibition area of 18,000 sq.m. and an out door
exhibition area of 500 sq.m. with more than 8,000 international standard
booths.
Regular exhibits on the show include household appliances, textiles and
garments, machinery and hardware, building and interior decoration materials,
electronic components, light industrial products, art and crafts, tourism
products and agricultural technologies, etc.
China International Commodities Fair is a good opportunity for SMEs to
communicate with each other, show new technological achievements, and
increase the market share of their products.

Changzhou -- An Industrial City
Located in the centre of the Yangtze Delta, Changzhou lies between Shanghai
and Nanjing, two of the most important cities in East China. With a history
of 2,500 years, Changzhou is also one of the most important industrial
cities in the country. The city is 4.375 sq.km. in size and has a population
of 4.3 million.
There are over 18,000 manufacturing companies based in Changzhou, forming
a comprehensive industrial structure including metallurgy, mechanical,
electronic, texitle, garments, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, plastics, building
materials and foodstuff.
The city's main industries are power industry, engineering machinery,
automobile, motorcycle and parts, power transmission equipment, electronics
and textile and garments.
Changzhou has achieved outstanding economic developments in the last
two decades. By the end of 1998, the number of forign companies in the
city had reached 2,600. There are also more than 2,000 export-oriented
manufacturers in the area.
Changzhou is also home to 12 universities and colleges, contributing
greatly to the city's economic drive.
