QUALITY AND TEST SYSTEMS

The Product

QTS 25 Texture Analyser

The QTS 25, flexible materials testing system, provides valuable data on an ever-increasing range of texture parameters.

To establish and maintain quality standards, detailed analytical data on your products' physical characteristics is essential. The QTS 25 is our latest generation of texture testing instruments. QTS is Farnell's latest generation of texture testing instruments. It is also the only system with a direct heritage to the original 'Stevens' texture testing machines, using the concepts originally established by the internationally recognised Leatherhead Food Research Association (LFRA).

The QTS 25 provides accurate values for a full range of product properties such as hardness, resilience, break-point and co-efficient of friction. Its test records are an essential part of procedures for ISO accreditation. Standard measuring modes include tension, compression, load/displacement cycling and constant load displacement.

Combining the user selectable probes with parameters such as, travel, speed, force and cycling; provides an infinite variety of test 'signatures', to characterise the individuality of almost any product.

Up to 99 repeatable tests may be configured and stored through the QTS 25's simple operating key pad. The QTS Controller is easily used without special skills to allow the full range of tests to be reliably repeated time after time at any installation. Its unique rugged, design and construction ensure the instrument is easy to clean and does not attract test debris.

LFRA Texture Analyser

The Leatherhead Food Research Association (LFRA) designed the Texture Analyser to quantify the textural properties of your products, easily, simply and accurately. Today the latest generation T.A. evaluates a wider range of products than ever before.

Portable and flexible in use, the Texture Analyser finds applications in R&D and Quality Control Departments that are almost limitless. With just a few minutes training, staff can produce accurate, reputable results. Simple experimentation with probe types combined with selectable speed and distance settings, enables operators to quickly establish test techniques that provides maximum information on any product.

From over 30 years experience of texture analysis, we have developed the widest range of probe fittings and accessories to suit any test material. An extensive library of applications and test results is also available.

PUNDIT Plus

The Portable Ultrasonic Non-destructive Digital Indicating Tester (PUNDIT) Family of Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (U.P.V.) instruments is accepted, by users throughout the world, as the industry standard for non-destructive concrete testing.

PUNDIT Plus is the new generation unit, taking advantage of the latest microprocessor technology to meet today's increasing demands for accuracy, reliability and ease of use.

Q.T.S. Profile

Developed with the unique benefit of over 20 years experience in texture analysis, the Profile software suite incorporates well established and many unique test routines, including the Industry Standard - Texture Profile Analysis (TPA).

TPA measures and illustrates initial material strength and subsequent degradation, quantified by a wide range of recognised characteristic descriptors. It shows how minute changes to product formulation and processing values (such as baking time) can influence the finished product and affect consumer acceptance.

QTS Profile is Windows'TM-based, providing a familiar presentation format for test results. Over 30 values are processed an can be displayed in spreadsheet format and may be printed through a PC or direct from the QTS output. For operational simplicity at different control points, three levels of analysis are selectable.

QTS Profile's graphic display format enables up to eight test batches to be overlaid for at-a-glance comparison against each other or established standards. Mean and average deviations are automatically calculated and displayed, in the statistics window, to provide valuable records for ISO and general performance monitoring. For traceability, test results may be recalled by product batch and sample number, providing essential input to overall process management control and interfacing with corporate procedures such as TQM.
