BRITISH TRADE MISSION TO CHINA
12th - 20th January 2002 |
Shanghai, the most outward looking city is the economic powerhouse of China. Despite its enormous achievements in recent years, Shanghai is gearing itself up for yet another metamorphosis, investing US$86.5bn in the next 5 years on new projects across various industry sectors.
Chongqing and Chengdu are the two of the biggest cities in the west region of China, and the government is moving full steam ahead with favourable and flexible policies to open up and develop the western China. The region comprises half the country’s total land area (5.4m km2) and mineral resources and about one-quarter of the population (300m). The Government has designated Chengdu as the hub for the development of China’s western region.
The opening up of the markets presents more opportunities for British exporters, importers and investors in construction, environmental protection, agricultural, education, tourism, energy and raw materials.
The Trade Mission is supported by Chinese Chambers of Commerce, who are the long-term partners of ChinaLink in China. A travel grant of £600 from Trade Partner UK (DTI) is available for each qualified exporter of the Mission.
Further details on travelling cost will be confirmed but it is estimated that the package will cost around £1200.
