The Company
ISOTECH has always tried to anticipate and accommodate customers' needs
in measurement. Since they are not only manufacturers of instruments,
but also a full-scale and accredited calibration laboratory at all levels,
these needs are often identical to their own. Hence the unique characteristic
of Isotech - they use what they make; they design from their own needs.
Isotech has concentrated on temperature sensors and calibration equipment.
During the 1980s, they developed and produced a full range of equipment
appropriate to the then art. Now, they have developed comprehensive lines
of apparatus which can provide the thermometry laboratory with everything
it needs, individually or integrated into complete systems.
Isotech is a NAMAS laboratory, which means that they are supervised and
audited by the National Physical Laboratory of England, and are empowered
by them to issue Certificates of Calibration which have scientific and
legal validity (traceability) world-wide. Their products can be calibrated
(or recalibrated) in their laboratory from the tip of the sensor to the
digits on the readout, with full traceable certification. Isotech is unique
in this service.

The Products
Complete Calibration Systems: Complete calibration systems for
laboratories of all levels of accuracy. Each system is complete and ready
to use, with international acceptance and traceability, conforming to
the most stringent requirements of various authorities. Each system is
individually tailored to meet a customer's specific requirement and certified
under N.A.M.A.S. Training is provided as part of the package.
True Temperature Indicators: Have surveyed currently available
temperature calibration instruments, and selected the best, Isotech began
to collaborate with their respective manufacturers. This collaboration
has resulted in modifications that produced the most suitable devices
for the calibration laboratory.
Standard Platinum Thermometers: Isotech's unique position as a
company experienced in manufacturing thermometers, cells and apparatus
is an ideal basis upon which to conduct research into these new facets
of standard thermometry. Isotech has been producing industrial and standard
platinum resistance thermometers for more than ten years. Research into
the performance of over 200 high temperature thermometers has given them
an understanding of the problems encountered in their application and
has led to a new design of thermometer for use from 0 degree Celsius to
1000 degree Celsius.
Standard Thermocouples: A thermocouple measure temperature difference.
Once one end of the thermocouple is held at a constant temperature (the
reference junction), which is often 0 degree Celsius, the other end can
be used to measure temperature.
Measurement Uncertainty: It is important to know what degree of
confidence one may place in the measurement results one acquires. Uncertainty
of measurement is a parameter associated with the result of a measurement
that characterises the dispersion of the values that could reasonably
be attributed to the measurand.
Metrology Products: Manufacturers of fixed points, the most accurate
artefacts devised by man for the defining of the temperature scale, have
a responsibility unique in the temperature world. No other privately owned
company is certified by the Primary Laboratory's National Laboratory (NAMAS)
to issue certificates with its cells with uncertainties so small they
exceed those of many National Laboratories. The NAMAS scrutiny and twice
a year audits ensure that Isotech's results are always better than ever
their uncertainties suggest.
Professional Comparison Calibrators: The quickest, simplest and
most economic calibration of a thermometer, for all but the very highest
accuracy, can be obtained by comparison with a calibrated thermometer
of the same type. Use the comparison method, there are very few errors
that are likely to be significant, since even non-uniformity in the temperature
of the enclosure, inadequate thermometer immersion or thermometer log
tend to cancel, provided that the two thermometers are of the same type
and are mounted in close proximity to each other.
Dry Block Calibration Systems: An extremely important segment
of calibration of industrial temperature sensors exists where checking
is required to industrial accuracy and other factors such as speed of
heating and cooling, and portability become important considerations.
A standard temperature sensor and calibrated indicator are used to measure
the temperature controlled metallic blocks, a traditional solution to
the industrial calibration problems. Isotech have applied their knowledge
and skills derived from their primary laboratory experience to the development
of user friendly, but accurate products.
Testers: A small range of products for the testing of thermal
devices where the quest for small uncertainties is sacrificed in favour
of speed of response and economy. Though not as accurate as the Isotech
other products, they still give consistent results in less demanding applications.
Black Body Sources: A black body is either a source with zero
reflectivity or a source emitting the maximum possible radiation (at all
wavelengths) for its temperature. Isotech have worked in conjunction with
the National Physical Laboratory and one do the world's recognised producers
of radiation pyrometers to produce a number of black body sources to the
highest standards available to industry.
Simulators and Sources: There is also a need in the market for
calibrating indicators and controllers by injecting signals simulating
thermocouples or resistance thermometers. Indicators can be calibrated
quickly and easily at a large number of points. For site work, Isotech
have a range of very simple, economically priced simulators for the calibration
of indicators and controllers.
Journal of Thermometry: Isotech staff spend a lot of time talking
and helping their customers technically. In addition, they lecture and
present papers at symposiums and conferences world-wide. In 1990, the
company launched the publication of Journal of Thermometry, a biannual
technical journal for users of high quality temperature calibration equipment.
