Polymer
Reprocessors
THE PROCESS
Polymer Reprocessors is a patented unique, non-chemical
process for the destruction of CD's and CD-ROM's, providing a bespoke
high security service to media industries and offering substantial savings
over increasing landfill costs by providing a complete, environmentally
friendly solution.
100% of the CD's / CD-ROM's and all the packaging is recycled
(paper / polycarbonate / polystyrene / paint/lacquer and aluminium).
The cased CD material is delivered to the decollation centre
where the constituent parts (CD / jewel case / paper inserts) are separated.
Paper is baled and pulped and used in the production of
cardboard.
The jewel case is granulated and then fed into an extrusion
system fitted with a laser filter for contaminant removal. The process
produces a high quality Crystal Polystyrene pellet which is reused in
a number of applications, including the manufacture of new CD jewel cases,
artificial wood and insulating foam.
The discs themselves are processed in our unique and patented
CD recycling machines, removing the paint, aluminium and data from the
surface of the disc to be used as insulation in electric cables.
The cleaned disc is then granulated, blended and compounded
into a high quality injection moulding grade polycarbonate for use in
a multitude of applications (e.g. burglar alarm boxes / street lighting
/ lenses etc) (See Product Specification Sheet).
100% of all the material obtained from the cased CD's is
recycled and reused in new applications. In line with PR's Mission Statement,
we are determined to continue to solve existing environmental problems,
providing bespoke recycling solutions to the media industries.

RAW
MATERIALS
Music & software manufacturing / distribution companies inevitably have
redundant / surplus stock. The destruction of this surplus is a major
concern to the manufacturers / distributors both from a 'black market'
risk and an environmental perspective. With new and wide ranging European
legislation coming into force, the availability of landfill is set to
decrease and the cost, especially for deep / secure landfill, will increase
substantially. To eliminate royalty payments, the manufacturers must also
provide fully auditable Certificates of Destruction.
PR uses ultra high-security decollation centres, with expansion capacity
to handle all anticipated volumes from Western Europe. Fully auditable
Certificates of Destruction are provided and pre-contract inspection and
references are available to media companies.

PRODUCTS
PR currently produce three products derived from the recycling of Compact
Discs, producing ultra high quality polymer.
- CD Injection Grade Polycarbonate Granulate: (Spec. details)
This is used in various blending processes to address a wide range of
moulded polycarbonate products.
- Injection Grade Polycarbonate Pellet: (Spec. details)
Available in clear, tinted & coloured forms with optional UV stabiliser
and additives. Typical applications include alarm boxes & panels, street
lighting lenses, electrical component boxes and equipment cases.
- Crystal Polystyrene Pellet: (Spec. details)
The pellet has excellent moulding characteristics and high clarity and
is ideal for applications such as building insulation and packaging
foam, key fobs, coat hangers, artificial wood products and even back
into CD jewel cases.
