TELESCOPE TECHNOLOGIES LTD.
Telescope Technologies
Ltd. is an initiative by Liverpool John Moores University, which specialises
in the design and manufacture of fully automated astronomical telescopes
for research and teaching, which can be used in a conventional manner
or robotically. Notable features of the 2m class telescopes include: an
uncompromising optical performance at all elevation angles made possible
by a pneumatically-controlled mirror support system; a modern altitude-azimuth
mount design of exceptional mechanical performance; practically zero-friction
hydrostatic telescope bearings for uperrior tracking and guiding capability;
and a robotic control system which allows the telescope to operate without
supervision according to an optimal scheduling algorithm. TTL manufactures
telescopes in the aperture range 0.5m to 6.5m. Not only will Telescope
Technologies Ltd. products be ideally suited to furthering a broad range
of seientific research programmes but will also provide unique public
access to frontier astronomical data.
